No matter what you have gone through with your body or mind this year, the right foods can make a hell of a difference and today we are going to take a look at which foods can help you do what.

Your Lungs

Your lungs are one of the most important organs of the body and they are responsible for taking in oxygen to the body to allow our cells to function. There might be a number of reasons why your lungs aren’t the best they can be such as smoking, lack of exercise or a recent illness. This is why taking foods which can open up the lungs and aid in oxygen intake can be a huge help. Foods which contain lots of antioxidants and magnesium such as berries and nuts can be a great choice. Flax seeds and oily fish contain omega 3 which is also great for the lungs too

Throughout the years our liver will likely get a bit of a battering for one reason or another and alcohol can likely be a big cause of an unhealthy liver. Our liver is the bodies waste disposal unit and it will take toxins and remove them into the Bowels to keep us healthy. When the liver doesn’t work properly our body can be overcome with toxins and this can be fatal if not rectified. This is why eating foods to help the liver stay healthy is a great idea and it can keep you fit for longer and give you a longer life. For example good such as garlic, onions, sprouts, broccoli and cabbage can be amazing for the liver as they contain sulphur and antioxidants.

The brain is the computer of the body and it is imperative that you are able to maintain a healthy brain all throughout your life. When the brain is allowed to become damaged there are several things that can happen including strokes, Alzheimer’s disease and mental health issues such as depression.

Stress on the brain is a worrying thing and it can really have a huge impact on the way you feel and think every day. It is important to keep the brain happy by ingesting foods and drinks which increase mood and cognitive function. For example you may have heard that eating a piece of chocolate before an exam is wise because it makes you happier. And this is because chocolate induces the release of dopamine in the brain to make us happy. It also gives us a boost of sugar to allow the brain to function a little quicker.

Other foods which can be helpful for the brain include oily fish which contain omega 3 and 6, green tea, which full of antioxidants and a little caffeine, and healthy fats such as avocados.

Having enough energy feels like a real achievement when we reach adulthood and it feels as if we are always lagging behind for one reason or another. Juggling adult life can be hard and it is important for us to give our body to fuel it needs to stay healthy all year long. The best foods to give us energy are the ones which allow us to release small amounts of energy throughout the day, such as leafy greens, and whole grains like bread and rice. Another food which is great for energy is nuts, and these can give us a big boost in energy as well as a whole lot of protein to help the body recover.

Get drinking

Last but by no means least, no matter what you decide to eat or drink today it is important for you to remember to drink enough water always. Water is the single most important substance we can have as humans and it is crucial that we drink enough to help our cells stay plump and our bodies flush or toxins.
