Simple Ways to Make Yourself Look Less Tired

When you’re a busy mom, the last thing you want to hear from someone is that you look tired. While it may be true, and you feel exhausted, you don’t want it to translate to your face. If you hear that you look tired, then it shows that you’re not looking healthy, well, and as attractive to others. Not something that you want to have to worry about, right? With the stress of life, family life, work life, and children who might not be sleeping, and with the occasional late night Netflix binge thrown in there, moms can be surviving on little sleep.

If you want to improve how you look and feel, and make sure that you’re feeling more refreshed and looking less tired, then here are some simple things that you can do at home that can make a difference.

Go to bed earlier

As tempting as it can be to stay up later, it is important to make sure that you go to bed earlier if you are feeling tired. This might not always be possible, as there are many things that you might want to get done when the children are in bed, but once or twice a week, aim to have an early night. It will help you to catch up on sleep if needed, and mean that a couple of mornings you’ll wake up feeling much more refreshed.

Have cold showers when you wake up

How tempting can it be to hit the snooze button? Even if you’re finding it hard to wake up, roll out of bed and get straight into the shower. The combination of cold water and soap suds will get you feeling fully awake and energized, and get your whole body tingling. This can help to smooth over any superficial creases that you might have on your face, and immediately get your brain awake and ready for action. If you prefer to have a warm bath, then make sure that you have the cold blast from the shower just before you get out, to give your whole circulation a boost.

Get a new eye cream

No matter how hard you try to fight it, aging is something that is completely natural. Fine lines around your eyes in particular can impact your overall look and lead to you look more tired, and perhaps older, than you really are. The good news is that there are things that you can do for your eyes, including getting a new eye cream. Choosing something like a retinol eye cream could make a difference, as it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. If you want to look more refreshed and awake, then this is definitely something to look into.

Use blusher instead of bronzer

When you’re doing your makeup, you can naturally think of going for bronze if you are feeling quite tired. But in actual fact, for an everyday look that helps you to feel and look more refreshed, bronzer or fake take is to be avoided. With blusher, you can give yourself a more awake and rosy look, restoring a more healthy and natural looking glow on your face.

Try something new with your hair

If you’re short on time and just want to get on with the day, pulling hair back and wearing it up can be an easy way to make you look tired, especially if it scraped back a little too tight. It is a good idea if you are going to tie hair back, that you leave it more loose, and leave some floaty pieces to frame your face, or perhaps choose to have feathery bangs if you know that ponytails are pretty much your daily thing. Choosing hairstyles that leave your hair loose, and that play with some waves, texture, or color can make a difference and leave you looking less exhausted. If you’re thinking about something new with your hair, then getting highlights around your face can make a difference, as it adds some light, right around your face where you need it.

Wear bright and cheerful colors

Something like wearing a white shirt with some black jeans can leave you feeling chic and stylish. However, if you add in some pops of color, perhaps with red, orange, or blue, you can look good but still give off an attitude of energy. The same goes for prints and stripes. Don’t be afraid of patterns or color, especially if you’re feeling a little exhausted; it works as an instant pick-me-up.
