How to Get Ready For Football Season

Sundays are about to take on a new meaning. As August comes upon us, it’s time to start thinking about the last part of the year, and with that comes holidays, returning to school, and the most important thing: football. There are going to be a lot of traditions to uphold, food to make, and guests to entertain. It really helps if you know what is going on with the game. If you don’t, don’t worry, just being a part of all the fun is totally worth it. You can be a social spectator and still love it. Here are a few ways you can get ready to have the best Sundays during football season.

Perfect Your Wing Recipe

Buffalo wings are the staple of every football Sunday spread. These little chicken wings will get devoured in about a matter of minutes, and the best way to keep everyone feeling good and feeling full is to perfect your recipe. Depending on how you like your wings from mild to hot from breaded to wet, it’s the sauce that will make people return for more. The healthiest and easiest way is to bake your wings in the oven until they are juicy then add your sauce. A full stick of butter, a bottle of hot sauce, and some Italian dressing seasoning is a great quick way to make wing sauce that won’t be too hot and everyone will love.

Know Your Teams

Knowing all 32 NFL teams may be a lot of work for you, but sometimes it helps if you know where these teams live. Some teams share stadiums while others have their own home, but it’s a fun geography game. There are 30 NFL stadiums around the country, and if you can match the team with their home stadium and city, you are well on your way to knowing what teams are what. You may not know who any of the players are, but that’s okay. It’s more allegiance to a certain city or area that is the real root of why fans are fans, and this little tidbit of information will make rivalries make sense and will help you get more into the game.

Get Some Sweet Gear

Once you choose your allegiance to a team, get some sweet gear to show your pride and colors. You can go to several online sports gear sites to find the perfect jersey, scarf, sweatshirt, pants, shorts, or hats to show your friends where you stand. Just about every team has gear for both men and women, so if you want to feminize your look there are several options available to you that will make you look chic. If you are a guy and you want to wear official merchandise, you can find it just about anywhere. It makes for great fun when you are wearing your team’s colors while you are picking on your friends and their teams.

Get Some Season Tickets

If it’s not too difficult or expensive, get yourself some season tickets for the home team. This can become a great ritual for you and your friends when the home team is playing home. Half the games of the season will be played in your home city and you can have a tailgate and cheer on your team in person. Season tickets are great to split with friends to reduce the overall cost, and when the season starts, you can choose which games mean the most to you and you can choose to go to that game, especially if the home team is not your team and the opponent is.

Did Someone Say Tailgate?

Buy yourself a durable cooler, load it up with drinks and food, and find a good spot in the parking lot. Tailgating is one of the greatest pastimes for any sport and it really gets the energy going as you root on your team. You and your friends can put your cars together, pull out some chairs, and have a great time before heading into the stadium. Some people have elaborate set ups for their tailgate including televisions and full meals served car-side. It’s like having your usual Sunday tradition at home, but at the stadium. This is a great place to flex your muscle on your array of dips, spreads, and BBQ skills. Doing something as casual as making some sandwiches is also just as great. Football is all about community, food, and fun, and it’s the best way to enjoy the season.
