Motivating yourself to get fit can be a real challenge. If you love fitness you won’t have a problem, but sadly not everyone does! When you’re struggling to find the motivation to exercise, try using these five easy ideas.
1 . List the benefits
If you’re keen to motivate yourself it’s a good idea to list the benefits of getting fit. There are so many benefits of a great fitness regime, you’ll boost your cardiovascular health, improve your strength, lose weight and support your mental health.
Listing all the good reasons to keep fit can really help you to feel inspired. Once you start seeing progress you’ll be motivated to keep on going! Positive affirmations can be helpful when you’re getting started.
2. Think about goals
Setting goals can give you something clear to aim for, but it’s important to start with easy goals at first. If you set yourself goals that are too hard you’ll start to feel discouraged. A few examples of fitness goals include:
- I aim to go to the gym three times each week.
- I aim to do a yoga video online twice a week.
- I will join one new fitness club.
- I will beat my fastest running time by the end of the month.
3. Bring a friend
Exercising alone sure can be dull, and when you’re struggling with willpower- friends are what you need! If you want to motivate yourself to keep fit, it’s a great idea to bring a friend. You might go running together, take a class, or hit the gym? If you’re struggling to find a friend to work-out with, consider joining a running club.
Not everyone likes the idea of working out with others, some prefer to do it alone. If you’re one of them, fitness apps are a great shout. There are plenty of fitness apps to choose from whether you like aerobics, spin or yoga.
4. Fun activities
Getting fit should be fun and there are so many niche activities you can try. Why not check out dance classes, beer yoga, paddle boarding or kickboxing? Look for classes that offer pumping tunes and great vibes, if you’re having fun, you’re far more likely to stay motivated. Fun exercise activities are a great way to boost your wellbeing.
5. Take it easy
Pushing yourself too much won’t make you enjoy your fitness regime. The key is to take it nice and easy. Remember, overexerting yourself can easily cause an injury. It’s important that you warm up before any exercise regime, ensure that you’re not overdoing it. If you do obtain a sports injury, you’ll need to avoid vigorous exercise for a while. If you feel your injury is a concern, you may need to contact an urgent care center.
Try using these five tips you’ll help yourself to get motivated. Once you establish a new exercise regime, it’s easier to stick to. From exercising with a friend to fun classes, there are lots of ways to get excited about fitness.
