Expanding Your Fitness Career Beyond Influencing

If you’re already working in the health and fitness world as an influencer, sharing tips, advice, and methods that have worked for you, then it’s safe to assume that you have something of a passion for it. You might have had a desire to turn that passion into your career for some time, but what’s the first step to take? Here, we’re going to answer that question.

Is it the time to get into the industry?

A lot of people are looking at the existing career climate of the world and considering whether it’s really the time to jump into the world of fitness. However, the health and fitness industry has proven to be one of the “winners” of the pandemic. People not only find more time for it due to the trend towards more flexible careers, but people are becoming much more mindful of how crucial their health is, too.

What path do you choose?

Of course, you need to think about what discipline, if any in particular, you are going to focus on. Are you going to become a personal trainer? Will you focus on particular practices, like strength training, CrossFit, or the like? Or would you more like to become something like a yoga instructor, nutritionist, or otherwise? Take the time to think about what really drives your passion for fitness or what got you into it in the first place.

What training do you need?

Once you have an idea of what you want to teach and provide, it comes time to look at what kind of formal education and training you’re going to need for it. If you want to get into yoga, you might want to look up the 200 hour yoga teacher training price. Not every discipline requires a certain certification or level of training, but if you want gym owners, other fitness professionals, and your clients to trust you, it pays to show that you have put in the work.

How do you work?

Given the nature of the work, those working in the fitness world tend to enjoy a little flexibility about how they work. You can do it full-time or part-time alongside your other work. You can rent out a space or run it from your own home, visit your clients at their own home, or work in a gym or fitness studio offered by another. You can go one-on-one with clients or offer your lessons in classes. Of course, you can mix and match these different working styles to your preferences, too.

What’s it leading to?

Aside from how you’re going to work initially, you should think about how it’s going to expand in the future. For instance, you could move from group classes to personal training, or gain further education to start offering comprehensive fitness management programs. You could even become a gym owner and start hosting instructors and trainers in your own space. It’s a good idea to have some kind of trajectory for your future career in mind.

It takes some courage to turn a passion into a career, but hopefully, the tips above lay out some of the first steps you can take.
