Working From Home? 4 Ways To Best Use Your Time

A lot of people think that working from home is easy. They think that you have all the time in the world and that you can easily get everything done. This is not the case at all, and if you don’t Organize your time then you may find that you get way more behind than you realize.

Separate your Work Space from your Living Space

The first thing that you need to do is separate your work space from your living space. This can be hard to do if you do not have a separate office, but with a little work, it is more than possible to do. For example, if you have a desk that is pushed up against a wall or in an alcove then paint the section in a different colour. You might also want to have some desk supplies close by as well. This will help you to make the distinction between working and not, and it will also help you to be more efficient too.

Your Circadian Rhythm

Working from home is only productive when you plan out your schedule to match the energy that you have. If you are really focused and alert at 6 AM then you need to try and work at this time. If you are exhausted after doing a good amount of work, then go out and have a walk. You can even take a power nap if you wanted. Either way, you need to listen to your body and you need to work as efficiently as possible. When you do this, you will have more time in the day and you will also have more time for yourself. Remember that it is no longer a 9-5 world, and that you have complete control over every aspect of your working day!

Daily Routine

Flexibility can be daunting to some extent. Some days, you don’t have to get up early at all and this can make it difficult for you to stick to a schedule. If you want to get around this then write down what you want to accomplish that week. You also need to fit in your daily regimen, so you can frame out the working time you have. When you do this, you will be far less likely to stray from the plan and you will also make it much easier to get the motivation you need to really be productive too. It’s also a great idea to set up a mailbox that you can access online.

Dress for Work

Lastly, you need to dress like you are going to work. If you don’t then this will make it even harder for you to get motivated and it will also make it easier for you to slack off as well. If you want to get some help, then you need to think about what you’d wear to a 9-5 job. This could be a smart shirt and trousers, or another similar outfit. You have to dress like you want to feel and the sooner you understand this, the more efficient you will be.
