On Your Feet All Day? Here’s How to Be Comfortable While You Work

Are you working in a job that requires you to be on your feet much of the time? Doctors and nurses are notoriously exhausted by the fact that they have to stand all day. It doesn’t sound like much, but being on your feet all day puts a lot of pressure and stress on your body. There are plenty of working people who are on their feet all day and are dealing with pain and discomfort when they really don’t have to.

No matter what your job is, ensuring that you are well equipped to work on your feet and you know when to put up some boundaries in your role is important. With this in mind, we’ve got some top tips to help you to be comfortable while you are at work.

  • Make sure you wear the right shoes. From SAS orthopedic sandals to crocs, flat soled shoes may seem like the obvious choice if you’re standing on your feet all day. But flat soled shoes may not be the right option. Arch supports may help to reduce weakness and soreness in the legs and feet, and you should make sure that your heel is elevated by at least 1 cm. Work shoes should be good around your feet and keep them comfortable and not too tight.
  • Get your shoes fitted correctly. Too many people wear shoes that are far too small for them, this cuts off the circulation to their feet and increases the chance of blisters. It can also make walking or standing very uncomfortable and it can even later be unbearable if you’re not careful. Getting your feet sized up properly with a professional can help you to have the right shoes fitted correctly. This will also help you to make much better decisions when it comes to purchasing shoes and reducing your overall discomfort. You should always be fitted for your shoes in the afternoon, because that’s when your feet are actually at their largest.
  • Stretch. If you are on your feet all day at work do you need to be comfortable and stretching your muscles can help you to do that. Your calves and thighs can become stiff and very painful when you’re standing or walking all day long.
