[Influenster Challenge Review] The Taste: Tuesday at 8|7c on ABC

TheTaste

Influenster asked me to do a quick review of ABC’s The Taste. I must admit I never heard of this show until Influenster mentioned it. So I went to watch a few short clips of the show. It got my interest alright. I love cooking shows and cooking competitions. My TV is usually set on the food network channel. Anywho, because I was interested in the show I went to my on demand to see if it was on so I can catch it from the very first episode. I couldn’t find it so I went online and lo and behold there it was. I started watching it (yay I’m all caught up now) and I must say this is quite a show. I actually like it.

The Taste is an hour-long cooking competition but with a twist. It’s almost like The Voice but only with cooking. There are 4 influential chefs who serves as the judges and the mentors; Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre, Anthony Bourdain and Brian Malarkey. Each mentor has a team of 4 who are either professional cooks or amateur (home-cook) cooks. So far from my understanding in each episode the teams will face a team and individual challenge with a variety of culinary themes and at the end of each episode each judge has to judge a dish through a blind taste test, a single spoonful. They will not know who created the dish, what ingredients were used, what their eating, how it was prepared or who they could be sending home.

In my opinion the best part of the show is the blind taste test. This makes it fair and that there is no favoritism. It’s all about the food.
