Easy Ways to Show Friends You Love Them From Afar

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we have all missed seeing our friends and family, and missed important events in their lives. Travel has been restricted, meeting groups of people has been limited, and how we do a lot of things has been turned upside down. Depending on where in the world you live, some restrictions have been lifted. However, if you have long distance family and friends, it could still be a little while before you get to see them again. So how can you show them that you still care about them from a distance? Here are some ideas to help keep your friendships going, even when you can’t visit in person.

Send a care package

If you see something when you’re shopping and you think of them, why not get it and send it? Even if it is just a bar of their favorite candy or a card with a funny meme on it that you just know that they will get. You could also send a box of some of their favorite things, just because you miss them and you want them to have a good day. When you put things together and send something, then it adds a nice touch. Of course, there are companies that put together little pamper packs for you, or you could order gifts for her online. So there are a number of options depending on your budget and what you think that they would like to receive.

Celebrate their milestones from afar

Being a good friend is all about celebrating their milestones, whether good or bad. As you can’t do it in person right now, you should still make an effort to celebrate (or commiserate) with them. It could be a birthday, a new job, a promotion, or an engagement. It could also be something like being there during a breakup or a loss. Paying some special attention to these moments in their life, even if it means that you mail them over a card or something else to celebrate together with, can be such a difference. It is a small act of kindness that helps to keep friendships going, especially ones that are long-distance.

Schedule FaceTimes

It is good to chat, but sometimes it is even better to see each other and have a video call. Of course, life is busy for everyone, so instead of randomly calling, arrange a time that is going to work well for you both, to have a proper chat. When there is time set aside to talk and have a video call, it will be much better, and you’ll talk away to catch up.

Use social media

There are a lot of good things about social media, and one of them is that it makes it so easy to stay in touch with friends and family. If you see a funny meme or video that you know they will love, tag them in so they see it. Being thought of in this way is fun and will brighten their day (as well as hopefully, make them laugh).
