5 Different Ways to Use Christmas Lights to Add Festive Cheer to Your Home

Now that the dark nights have officially set in, it’s time to break up the doom and gloom of winter with a bit of festive cheer. Christmas is just around the corner, which means it’s almost an acceptable time to start putting a shot of Baileys in your morning coffee, right? Party season is upon us, and with party season comes glitter, sparkles and more fairy lights than you can possibly imagine. There is nothing more magical and exciting than spotting all the extravagant and enticing Christmas light displays that people put up around their houses when you’re out and about. Whilst it’s all well and good to put up fairy lights outside, you can hardly see them from the inside! Sprinkle some of that festive magic in your home with these five ways to use Christmas lights to add festive cheer.

1. Christmas Tree

This has always got to be the first place to start when it comes to Christmas. Once the Christmas tree is up and decorated, it’s officially festive season (no matter how early you might be). The Christmas tree is the center piece. That means making sure it is decked out with all the goods is absolutely essential. A Christmas tree is not a Christmas tree without fairy lights. It just doesn’t count.

2. Santa’s Grotto

Christmas is all about being extravagant, so why not repurpose the spare room, attic, garage or office into the perfect little Christmas grotto for a few days! A grotto is essentially a magical cave, so make sure there is no natural lighting. Decorate the walls, put up festive ornaments, and make it a cosy and snug Christmas wonderland. And of course, don’t go easy on the fairy lights. Find the perfect lighting at electrical wholesalers to create that magical festive ambience. Let your imagination run all the way to the north pole and back!

3. Stairway to Heaven

This idea is simple, but effective. And there are so many ways you can approach this one. You could go for the more minimal style by gently wrapping strings of fairy lights up the banister, or you could go all out and completely cover it to create an icy stairway to heaven that Elsa would be proud of. Try adding a few other festive treats like baubles and stockings to give it some true Christmas spirit.

4. Magical Waterfall Curtain

Every time you step through the front door you will feel like you’re a princess in a Disney movie. Having a curtain of fairy lights that you gently part to enter your home is a beautiful and classy way to bring some Christmas magic home. It doesn’t have to be just your front door, if you have Santa’s grotto all set up, this is the entrance it deserves!

5. Starry Night Sky

Instead of following the stars like the three wise men, bring the starry night to your living room window. Draping hanging star lights down your window will make it feel like Christmas is every day. Again, this is a simple, but highly effective way of capturing the magic of Christmas.

There is nothing more magical than Christmas, and no better way to create festive cheer than with pretty Christmas lights, however you decide to use them!
