Summer can be a fantastic time of the year for many people. It signifies longer days, warmer weather, and a nice suntan. However, it can also turn into a bit of a nightmare for others, this can include hay fever and sweat rash. There are ways to ensure you get through summer being happy and healthy, take a look below for some tips and tricks.

The one problem with summer apart from the heat is the pollen count. This can be a nightmare for some people. If you are one of the people who suffers from hay-fever or any other summer-related allergies then there is help out there. You can take antihistamines in the form of a tablet or nasal spray. It can take some time to find the product that works for you but you will be so relieved when you do.

One side effect that can occur when taking antihistamines, and one you have to look out for is a dry nose. This can be uncomfortable and annoying at times, there is a dry nose treatment that can sort this out so it’s not all bad news.

2. Water

Summer brings higher levels of dehydration, this is through the heat and sweating. It can be very uncomfortable but remember, sweating is a normal process for humans. There are ways to avoid this, including staying hydrated and drinking the recommended amount of water. You should be aiming to drink at least eight glasses of water, this equates to around two liters. You may find yourself drinking more than this due to the heat, which is absolutely fine.

3. Sunscreen

Another way to look after yourself in the summer is through the use of sunscreen. This is vital, especially if you live in a hot place or are traveling. The sun’s rays can damage your skin in ways you can’t see until years later. Protection from the sun can prevent problems such as skin cancer from developing. A common misconception about sunscreen is that you only need to apply it once. This is not true, you should apply it at least every hour and more than this if you are taking dips in the water.

As well as regularly applying sunscreen you should also remember to keep moisturizing in summer. You might think that sweating automatically moisturizes your skin but this isn’t the case. Keep moisturizing even after a hot, sunny day.

4. Don’t Forget To Eat

Finally, we have all been there, on a hot day not wanting to eat very much. This is a common problem everyone has. However, it is vital you take time out to eat regularly throughout the day. It can be very tempting to skip meals and only eat in the evenings when it’s cooler but this can make you feel dizzy and lightheaded throughout the day. Your body needs regular nutrition to focus and function. If you are working throughout the summer it may help to keep healthy snacks in your drawer so you can eat when you feel peckish.
